How Plumbing Maintenance Can Save You Money in the Long Run
Meet your neighbor Bill W. Like many of us, Bill W. only calls a plumber in emergencies,
such as when a pipe burst in his kitchen and nearly flooded half his house.
Bill W. had been dealing with slow drainage in his kitchen and bathroom for several
days. He finally bought a flange plunger to clear the drains when his old cup plunger
didn’t work. Unfortunately, the flange plunger did little to remove the clog. Bill W.
remembered watching a YouTube video about somebody creating a makeshift snake
from a wire coat hanger to clear clogged drains. So, he followed the video’s instructions
and shoved the coat hanger “snake” down the kitchen sink drain.
The coat hanger became stuck about two feet inside the pipe. He heard a loud, banging
noise when he attempted to pull the hangar out, followed by water pouring from under
the sink onto his kitchen floor.
Bill W. made an emergency call to Atomic Plumbing. Within minutes, an experienced,
licensed plumber arrived and promptly fixed the problem. However, Bill’s failure to
proactively maintain his plumbing system and his attempt to save a few bucks resulted
in a costly plumbing disaster and unnecessary stress.
